It is our pleasure to invite you to the Vth NEURONUS 2012, IBRO IRUN Neuroscience Forum held in Krakow (Poland) on April 20-22, 2012.

So far, four editions of two separate neuroscientific events have been annually organized at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow: the Students’ Neuroconference was organized by the NEURONUS Students’ Society and was mostly devoted to the molecular and biological neuroscience, while Krakow Workshop on Psychophysiology, organized by the Institute of Psychology, was focused primarily on the cognitive neuroscience. As some topics were common for both conferences, we have decided to co-organize one event as the 2012 edition of our previous conferences.

Our main goal is to create the opportunity to share the neuroscientific knowledge from related subdisciplines and, specifically, to establish contacts between experienced scientists and young researchers. We strongly believe that these changes will give rise to the big annual IBRO-featured event, truly unique in Poland and on the Eastern European scale.

We can undoubtedly feel experienced with organizing successful conferences on the international scale. During the previous meetings we had an occasion to host some acknowledged scientists: Frank Pfrieger (Institute of Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences, Strasbourg), Stefan Pulver (Cambridge University), Richard Frackowiak (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne), Johannes Letzkus (FMI for Biomedical Research, Basel), Adrian Owen (Cambridge University), Alfons Hamm (University of Greifswald), Rolf Verleger (University of Lübeck), Rob van der Lubbe (University of Twente), Piotr Winkielman (University of California), and not to mention a strong representation of the Radboud University in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), with Anton Coenen and Gilles van Luijtelaar.

This years Main Invited Speakers:

Tibor Harkany (University of Aberdeen, UK)
Kenneth Hugdahl (University of Bergen, Norway)
Sergey Kasparov (University of Bristol, UK)
Margaret Niznikiewicz (Harvard Medical School, USA)

Benedikt Berninger (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Monachium, Germany) Jacek Jaworski (International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Warsaw, Poland)
Istvan Katona (Institute of Experimental Medicine, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary)
Rob van der Lubbe (University of Twente, the Netherlands)
Sumi Leung (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain)
Gilles van Luijtelaar (Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands)
Sven Müller (Ghent University, Belgium)
Tineke van Rijn (Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands)
Annekathrin Schacht (Georg-August-Univeristӓt Gӧttingen, Germany)
Rolf Verleger (Univeristӓt zu Lübeck, Germany)
Elena Dragicevic (Universität Ulm, Germany)

Session Topics Include:

Neurophysiology, Neuroplasticity, Neurogenetics, Neuropsychiatry, Neurodegeneration, Neuronal Stem Cells and Hemispheric Asymmetry, Affective Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Emotion Processing, Visual Auditory Perception

To summarize our annual meetings, last year we were invited to publish a set of scientific papers in one of the most relevant journals in the field, International Journal of Psychophysiology. “Basic and applied electrophysiology special issue is expected to be successfully accomplished until the end of 2011. The opportunity to publish full papers in a peer-reviewed journal can undoubtedly reflect the quality of the so-far conference presentations.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee we eagerly await to welcome you in Krakow and wish you an inspiring time.

The entire conference will be held in English
